Avengers: Endgame Prelude Comic Recaps Infinity War

The arrival of Avengers: Endgame is fast approaching, which means it's time once again for Marvel to prepare their fans with help from Marvel's Avengers: Endgame Prelude comic series.

As the name suggests, it's another reminder that each installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a stepping stone to the next in line - and with Endgame, even more than usual. We've got an exclusive preview of Avengers: Endgame Prelude #2, recapping the happenings of Infinity War from the return of Captain America's Secret Avengers, the origins of Gamora, and more.

The prelude issues from Marvel Comics have helped to expand the story beyond what is shown in the film, especially if a small detail or point of clarification can help to answer questions for movie fans. It would be hard for this Avengers: Endgame Prelude to top the first issue, in which a popular Infinity War fan theory was debunked. And with the third and final issue covering the infamous Thanos snap, and the villain's mysterious journey into what could be the MCU version of Soul World, more twists may be coming.

It's fitting that the preview stops just short of revealing the first major deception by Thanos (his use of the Reality Stone to ensnare Gamora, and prevent Star-Lord from executing her as he promised). After all, Thanos' role in Avengers: Endgame remains a mystery, and is guaranteed to surprise fans for that reason alone. Considering that Endgame is a direct sequel to Infinity War, it's more than a little strange to wonder if Thanos will even play a role as antagonist. Or, as many Infinity War time travel theories have suggested, the next Avengers movies will mainly focus on Iron Man trying to change the MCU timeline as a whole.

We doubt that Marvel will let any hints of that story drop before the movie is actually in theaters, but fans have proven they don't need much to spin a fun, and compelling theory. In the meantime, read on for the full synopsis and details below:
