Posted: 20 May 2021 06:46 AM PDT Pregnant Meghan Markle may choose a £2,800-per-night Californian maternity suite previously used by Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Victoria Beckham when she gives birth this summer, a friend has said. The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby girl in the coming months and close friend Omid Scobie believes the former actress may choose to give birth at Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai Medical Centre. From welcome packs with nappies - and wine - to gourmet dining and 'secret tunnels', the swanky 24-acre complex is certainly fit for royalty. Omid, author of bombshell biography Finding Freedom, suggested Meghan may opt for Cedars Sinai during last night's Channel 4 documentary A Very Royal Baby : From Cradle to Crown, reports The Sun. "There is a lot of speculation about where Harry and Meghan's daughter might be born," he said. "Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles has some of the finest maternity suites in the country." Birthing suites at the Beverly Boulevard site, right next to the affluent Beverly Hills neighbourhood of Los Angeles, come with three-bedrooms and two luxury bathrooms. A night in the deluxe maternity suites, which could easily be mistaken for a five-star hotel room, costs £2,800. The suites feature a patient room and an adjacent sitting room, and come with a luxury en suite, bath robes, recessed lighting, flat screen TVs, hardwood floors and access to salon services such as haircuts, manicures and pedicures. Meghan would have 24/7 access to a personal doula, who can offer "physical, emotional and educational support". New parents can enjoy a gourmet post-birth dinner in the comfort of their own suite, while in-room fridges are stocked with free juices and bottled water, and a welcome basket with wine and nappies awaits patients upon check-in. Both parents are given three deluxe meals a day, with vegetarian and vegan options catered for. From steaks and strawberries to organic and kosher food, no request is too obscure. And, of course, there's vino on hand for the parents and entourage to toast the new arrival. Meghan of course wouldn't be the first high profile name to give birth at Cedars-Sinai, with stars like Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Pink and Victoria Beckham all visiting the medical centre in the past. High profile stars usually park around the back in the same place as the doctors, before sneaking in through the back entrance. One long-standing rumour is that tunnels run under the hospital to enable celebs to get around without being seen. Back in 2008, a then troubled Britney, was said to have escaped during a breakdown by legging it down one such tunnel. However, a spokesperson for the centre previously denied the enduring speculation, flat-out insisting: "We have no secret tunnels at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre." Meghan gave birth to the couple's first child, Archie, at The Portland Hospital in London on May 6, 2019. A maternity stay at the hospital can cost anywhere between £6,760 and £500,000 depending on how many extras the mum-to-be opts. The average stay is about £20,000. The hospital boasts suites with sitting rooms and fridges stocked full of champagne. While the NHS breakfast costs as little as 90p, at the Portland there is a team of 13 preparing any dish the mothers desire. |
Posted: 24 May 2021 07:28 AM PDT Royal experts suggest Meghan Markle could be about to give birth 'any day now'. The heavily pregnant Duchess of Sussex has not made her due date public – and refuses to even be drawn on the month her baby is predicted to arrive. Meghan and Harry, who are already proud parents to Archie, announced on Valentine's Day that they are expecting their second child after the Duchess suffered a miscarriage last year. During her interview with Oprah Winfrey alongside husband Prince Harry, Meghan would only say their baby daughter would be arriving "this summer". But their baby girl may be here by the end of the month, it has been claimed. Daily Beast's respected Royalist newsletter says Meghan's due date could actually be in May. "The Royalist was always taught summer started in June, but there have also been rumours the baby was due sooner than that, so we think the answer is 'any day now'," the newsletter read. She may choose to give birth at Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai Medical Centre, close friend Omid Scobie has hinted. The £2,800-per-night Californian maternity suite previously used by Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Victoria Beckham may be used to welcome the new arrival. Omid, author of bombshell biography Finding Freedom, suggested Meghan may opt for Cedars Sinai during Channel 4 documentary A Very Royal Baby : From Cradle to Crown. "There is a lot of speculation about where Harry and Meghan's daughter might be born," he said. "Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles has some of the finest maternity suites in the country." Suites at the Beverly Boulevard site, right next to the affluent Beverly Hills neighbourhood of Los Angeles, come with three-bedrooms and two luxury bathrooms. A night in the deluxe maternity suites, which it is said could easily be mistaken for a five-star hotel room, costs nearly £3,000. Meghan would have 24/7 access to a personal doula, who can offer "physical, emotional and educational support". Royal biographer Angela Levin has meanwhile explained why the pair probably won't pick a traditional royal name for their baby girl. But she says the Duchess would be "proud" to call their second child Diana. Diana, Elizabeth, Alexandra and Grace are among the bookies' favourite names. Royal expert Ms Levin, author of Harry: Conversations with the Prince, told the Mirror: "I'm sure they will call her Diana. "I think Harry would love that, and Meghan would be very proud because she would bring Diana close to him. "What would be extraordinary is if the baby was born within a few days of the unveiling of Diana's statue in the summer." She added: "I don't think they will use a royal name that has been part of the name of a previous royal who is no longer with us. "They could try to find something maybe in Greek that will let them have another foundation. |

The worldwide sensation achieved superstar status by conquering the male-dominated music industry of the era. Now 62 years of age, Madonna has sold more than 70 million albums internationally and has attained 21 Top 10 hits. Despite her unprecedented success, the "Justify My Love" singer refuses to perform two of her biggest hits, saying someone would have to pay her $30 million to do so. 'Like a Virgin'RELATED: Madonna's Biggest Hits The controversial performer was born in Bay City, Michigan, in 1958. Her birth name is Madonna Louise Ciccone. At only five years of age, Madonna's mother died from breast cancer. Biography reported that the singer was determined to be heard, saying, "I think the biggest reason I was able to express myself and not be intimidated was by not having a mother." She explained, "For example, mothers teach you manners. And I absolutely did not learn any of those rules and regulations." Madonna says she "rebelled against her traditional upbringing by turning her conservative clothing into revealing outfits, frequenting underground gay nightclubs, and rejecting her religious background." In 1978, the iconic performer moved to New York to pursue a career in dance. After working as a showgirl in Paris and joining several bands in the Big Apple, Madonna found success in her first single, "Everybody." She signed a deal with Sire Records in 1982 when the song hit number one on the dance charts. Her first full-length album, Madonna, featured the hits "Borderline," "Lucky Star," and "Holiday." Suddenly, girls were embracing Madonna's style with fishnet stockings, fingerless gloves, and crucifix necklaces. After a string of controversial performances and high-energy world tours, Madonna tried her hand at acting, appearing in both film and Broadway theatre. The performance aired before the song was released and subsequently became Madonna's first number one hit in the U.S. Rolling Stone ranked the song number four on its list of greatest pop songs. The legendary performer told The Times, "If I'm in a car or I go into a restaurant, I'm out somewhere, and one of my songs starts playing, I just go, "Ugh." Probably because I've had to hear it five billion times already, and I want to escape that." |
US singer Kelly Rowland champions Arab designer Jean-Louis Sabaji - Arab News Posted: 22 May 2021 02:28 AM PDT DUBAI: US singer Kelly Rowland recently appeared on "The Late Late Show" hosted by James Corden, where she performed her most recent single and for the occasion donned a look from the Middle East. The former Destiny's Child singer performed "Flowers," from her new "K" EP, wearing a saturated burgundy dress covered with ruffled feathers from Lebanese couturier Jean-Louis Sabaji while standing in a shaded grove. The long-sleeved, plumed minidress was styled by Jennifer Udechukwu, who plucked the look from the designer's Spring 2021 ready-to-wear offering. The Lebanese couturier, who founded his eponymous house in 2012, unveiled the collection in October 2020. Titled "Soar," the offering takes inspiration from the animal kingdom, and is punctuated by feathers and snakeskin. Pieces range from floor-sweeping gowns trimmed with brightly hued plumes to sequined snakeskin blazers. Sabaji, who is the son of famed Lebanese couturier Jean Sabaji, is known for his show-stopping, sculptural creations worn by A-list stars for the world's most talked-about events, including Rowland's Destiny's Child bandmate and global superstar Beyonce, who has donned the Beirut-based designer's conceptual designs on several occasions. Memorably, the US superstar wore a long-sleeve, gold metallic beaded gown with a dramatic train by Sabaji for the 2018 Wearable Art Gala. Speaking of the "Lemonade" hitmaker, Rowland revealed during "The Late Late Show" that she reached out to Beyonce and Michelle Williams when she was putting together the songs for her most recent EP. "I remember actually I sent Michelle a song and I was so hyped... but I always know they're gonna say something, and Michelle is like, 'This is awesome... (but) you need to re-record that vocal (sic),'" she recalled. "And P.S., B's done it too. But it's only because we know each other best, you know what I mean? And they bring out the best in me," she explained about her bandmates and good friends, who, she revealed, were on Zoom when she gave birth to her second son Noah in January. "We're able to critique each other in such a beautiful way. And it's with love, so when they're giving me notes I'm like, 'Oh, that's true!'" It isn't the first time Rowland has championed an Arab designer. For example, in 2018, she stunned at the City of Hope Gala in Santa Monica, California, wearing a dazzling floor-length gown by Kuwait's Yousef Al-Jasmi. |
