Ground FX

The Ground FX was designed by Mark Jones and first released in 2003. The back of the blister card reads:" With 2 turbo-charged V8 engines, and 2 vertical stabilizers, this streamlined salt flat racer was made to break land speed records."

This Mooneyes version is from the 2010 HW Performance series. It had been on my want list for quite a while. It is not exactly a rare model but it was not easy to find at a good price.

This beautiful blue model is from the 2009 HW Special Features series. Unlike the Mooneyes model, the body of this one can be removed from the chassis.

The Ground FX reminds me a bit of the famous Bluebird that broke the world land speed record in 1964.

Someone at Swifty's Garage also mentioned that the Ground FX might have been inspired by the Mercedes-Benz T80, an earlier attempt at land speed record.
